DISTANCE & ROUTE

The series for men and women are divided in age groups. Women NYL (under 40), N40, N50 and men MYL (under 40), M40, M50 and M60. The starting point is at the Sahara field (Tallikatu 11) in Valkeakoski. The race starts at 9.30AM. The timing is only with brutto time (time between the starting pistol and crossing the finish line).

The first three kilometers are ran through city streets. The route then goes via the jogging trail at the Valkeakoski outdoor recreation for the next three kilometers. The following part between Leppäjärventie and Rutajärvi (approximately 11 km from the start) consists forest trails with an exception of one small part of gravel road. From Rutajärvi to Vähä-Kausjärvi (3,5 km) the route continues as a forest road. The next 5 km to Taivalpirtti is forest road and then forest trail before some gravel road after crossing the Savontie.

After Taivalpirtti the terrain is a mixture of gravel road and forest trail before the jogging trail of Suolijärvi outdoor recreation. The last three kilometers between Hervanta to Koivistonkylä are made of gravely jogging trail. The last part is infamous because of hills that might ask for the famous Finnish Sisu to complete.

The route of Pirkan Hölkkä is marked with blue ribbon, direction guides and kilometer signs. The route is planned to have forest trails as much as possible. There are six service points.

The finish line is at the yard of Tampere Adult Education Center (TAKK) in Nirva, Tampere (Kurssikeskuksenkatu 11). Transportations are available from the finish area and Tampere city center to starting area after completing the track as well as in the morning before the start.

Talkoo Hölkkä takes place a week after Pirkan Hölkkä event. The main purpose behind the Talkoo Hölkkä is to offer a chance of participation for those who are busy working as volunteers during the main event. Talkoo Hölkkä is however open for everyone to join and it’s part of Tour De Pirkka. The route is same but it does not feature timing, service points are reduced to two (Rutajärvi and Taivalpirtti) and there are fewer signs marking the route. Talkoo Jogging is a great opportunity for anyone who enjoys running or walking in the peaceful autumn nature without hundreds of other participants.

We organized together with TU38 half distance, Pirkan kieppi. Start will be at the finish line of Pirkan Hölkkä at TAKK Nirva at 11:30AM. The course continues via Lahdesjärvi to Vuores, where the race goes through beautiful neighbourhoods.  After that the race joins to original Pirkan Hölkkä route at the service point of Vormisto. Rest of the route will be the same as with the runners of 33 km.
